Q: What can you tell us about this Sketch Music you have spoken of?
|
I just mean that my work is complete 'as is' which is essentially the character of a musical sketch: 'incomplete', simplified, bare essence unofficial recordings like a sonic notebook. I invite being questioned as being 'valid' in this approach to my craft because I believe in, and support the idea of, art which is created from your own life; not made to go into a museum or about media presentation. Art-making is the most basic impulse, yet its made into such a complicated mess by managers, curators, promoters, and all these 'professionals' who are not art-makers, but art-fakers. I make my recordings in the bedroom where I sleep and dream, but I can also do it in a hotel, or in the mountains. Just like a painter... it's homemade. -Stavo Craft |

"I don't write for critics; I write for that little
thing that sits just in and behind my forehead. To me, it is still about one
man alone in a room, creating Art or failing to create Art. All else is bullshit."
-Charles Bukowski
"Committees can never produce a Masterpiece. Only
the oddball runs with a vision. Producers, distributors, critics, hacks, executives.
Have no traffic with them. Don't bother trying to enlighten them. They are the
enemies of art." -James Broughton
